Service Lateral Rehabilitation

Insituform® provides complete trenchless solutions for rehabilitating service laterals and sealing connections working remotely from inside a main line. Using the same materials and methods as with our Insituform® process for main lines, we can provide a structural, jointless and non-leaking service lateral pipe.

Our service lateral rehabilitation system should be used in conjunction with our Insituform® process. To enhance the quality of the seal between the lateral and main line pipes, we recommend rehabilitating the main line prior to rehabilitating the service lateral.

How it Works
An installation assembly unit is winched through the main line to the damaged service connection. The assembly unit is then used to invert the liner into the lateral. A curing process is initiated, during which the liner is held in place by the assembly unit's inversion hose. Once the Insituform® Lateral Pipe has cured, the assembly unit is removed, leaving the service lateral rehabilitated and ready for use.

Cleaning and Inspection
When using Insituform®'s service lateral rehabilitation process, it is necessary to thoroughly clean the pipe prior to inspection and rehabilitation. We typically use high- pressure water to free the service lateral of roots, mineral deposits, grease, sand and sludge. The inspection process involves propelling a small-diameter camera into the service lateral from a robot positioned in the main line. This inspection provides valuable information regarding the condition of the lateral. We can usually conduct these inspections by working remotely from the main line, thereby avoiding any digging or disruption.

Conditions
Because the condition of laterals can vary so widely, even in a local area, we recommend that you consult with an Insituform® representative to determine whether our lateral rehabilitation process can be used.
